- Set up Google Authenticator for the first time
1. Website
(1) Log in to your AlphaX account, click your avatar in the top-right corner to open the dropdown menu, then select "Security settings".
(2) Click "Settings" to the right of "Google Authenticator".
(3) You will see a backup key. Write it down and store it securely. This key can be used to recover your Google Authenticator if you lose access to the app. Click "Copy key" to copy the key.
(4) Open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device, tap the "+" icon in the bottom-right corner, and tap "Scan a QR code" to scan the code on AlphaX website.
If your device camera is unavailable, you can manually enter the provided key into Google Authenticator instead.
(5) Click "Send", then enter the email verification code and the 6-digit code displayed in Google Authenticator to complete the setup. If SMS 2FA has already been enabled, you will need to enter the email verification code, Google verification code, and SMS verification code simultaneously.
2. App
(1) Open the AlphaX app, tap the nine-dot menu icon in the top-left corner of the homepage, and select "Security settings".
(2) Tap "Not configured" on the right side of "Google Authenticator code" to continue.
(3) Tap "Download" to install Google Authenticator from the app store. After installation, tap "Enable".
(4) Tap "Copy" to copy the backup key, then tap "Next".
(5) Write it down and store it securely. This key can be used to recover your Google Authenticator if you lose access to the app.
(6) Open Google Authenticator, tap the "+" icon in the bottom-right corner, and paste the copied key to complete the linking.
(7) Tap "Send", then enter the email verification code and the 6-digit code displayed in Google Authenticator to complete the setup. If SMS 2FA has already been enabled, you will need to enter the email verification code, Google verification code, and SMS verification code simultaneously.
Notes:
Some Android devices may require Google Play Services. If unavailable, install a Google Installer to enable Google framework services.
Google Authenticator requires camera access for QR code scanning. Grant camera permissions when prompted.
Some devices may require a restart after enabling Google Play Services.
After enabling 2FA, verification codes will be required for login, withdrawals, and withdrawal address creation.
- How to remove or change Google Authenticator
1. If your current Google Authenticator is still accessible
If your current Google Authenticator is working properly, you can manually change or remove it through the website by following these steps:
(1) Log in to your AlphaX account, click your avatar in the top-right corner to open the dropdown menu, then select "Security settings".
(2) Next to "Google Authenticator": Click "Edit" to replace your current Google Authenticator or click "Remove" to remove the existing Google Authenticator before linking a new one.
Withdrawals will be disabled for 24 hours after making this change.
(3) If you click "Edit":
Scan the QR code using Google Authenticator. If scanning is unavailable, manually enter the provided key into the app, then click "Next".
You will see a backup key. Write it down and store it securely. This key can be used to recover your Google Authenticator if you lose access to the app.
Complete verification using your email and the new Google Authenticator code to finish setup.
If you click "Remove":
Carefully read the note, then click "Confirm".
Complete verification using your 2FA device, then click "Confirm" again to finish removing.
